DOU.K is a studio of custom-made shirting based in New York City and Paris, founded by Marie Douat in 2017. Having worked in fashion in the U.S. for the few years prior, Marie saw firsthand the severely damaging impact the industry has on both the environment and the human workforce around the world.
DOU.K Studio partners exclusively with highly-skilled artisans in Europe and India with whom Marie has a close personal relationship. DOU.K is committed to ensure workers receive fair wages, are not exposed to chemicals, and that steps are taken to minimize waste in order to protect the planet. Every DOU.K shirt is made to last many years, and the studio offers the option to replace frayed cuffs or stained collars to expand the garment’s lifespan.
Marie Douat meets personally with clients in New York City and Paris for an in-depth consultation that includes up to 20 measurements. The studio sources its fabrics (800 in total, all from natural, ethically-sourced fibers) from the most outstanding mills in Italy and Switzerland and, with 80 collars, 30 cuffs, and 50 more options for customization, no two shirts are alike. In addition, every aspect of the wearer’s lifestyle, wants and needs is carefully considered for a truly unique result.
DOU.K is also proud to offer a range of options and fits specially designed for women. Historically, the bespoke tailoring industry has focused almost exclusively on men, something Marie is working hard to change. DOU.K’s purpose is to make beautifully unique shirts for everyone, and to open the bespoke experience to a new female clientele.
